Nana Tonardo Slams Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah for Allowing Mother to Mock Prophet Opambour on Radio

Ghanaian socialite Nana Tonardo has openly condemned journalist Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah for allowing his mother to make controversial remarks about Prophet Opambour during a live radio broadcast. Tonardo criticised the move as ill-advised, saying it needlessly exposed his mother to public backlash.
The tension started when Prophet Opambour, also known as Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, issued a curse against Afrifa-Mensah for making critical comments about him on-air. Reacting to the curse, Afrifa-Mensah’s mother called into the show to express her frustrations. However, during the call, she reportedly hurled insults at the prophet, intensifying the dispute.
Nana Tonardo expressed disappointment over Afrifa-Mensah’s decision to involve his mother in the situation, which he believes has only fueled public criticism.
In an interview with Kwaku Manu on November 29, 2024, Tonardo questioned Afrifa-Mensah’s judgment, saying, “It was unwise for Okatakyie to bring his mother into this. By doing so, he has placed her in a vulnerable position for public ridicule. If people are mocking her now, it’s because someone dragged her into a situation she didn’t need to be part of.”
He further added, “If his mother had chosen her words wisely, she wouldn’t have spoken about Opambour at all. Some matters are better left private.”
This incident has drawn attention to the risks of involving family members in public disputes. Tonardo stressed that families should keep sensitive matters off public platforms to avoid unnecessary backlash and preserve dignity.
The dispute between Tonardo, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, and Prophet Opambour teaches the importance of maintaining professionalism and privacy in public conversations. While disagreements are inevitable, handling them with care can prevent personal and family matters from becoming public controversies.
Meanwhile, Prophet Opambour in one of his church sermons on TV has replied to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and his mother for mocking him on live TV.
